Now, not many resorts are widely advertised as being pet-friendly. Nor consistently pet-friendly per location, for that matter. As a company that is based out of Miami, Florida we know Florida, their resorts, and wedding venues very well. We have learned that many places are pet-friendly to dogs, most frequently under 25lbs. If you have a particular resort in mind, just ask them whether or not they are pet-friendly. If you’re not sure yet, we’ve listed a few for you to consider.

Flying domestic with a furry companion is much easier than international. Did you know that over 2 million pets travel within the US by air each year? According to Travel and Leisure, JetBlue Paws and United Airlines PetSafe are two pet-friendly options when travelling by air. Each airline has different rules based on the size, weight, and breed for dogs to sit in the cabin. Some airlines are more strict than others, so plan ahead.
Like everything surrounding weddings and honeymoons, this too requires planning. So, make sure to let your airline know that you’ll be taking your fur-baby with you on your romantic get-away.
There are multiple pet-friendly locations within the United States that are perfect for honeymoons, and obviously many more than what is listed. These all depend on your taste and preferences, but here are a few of our favorites that we picked out:
Traveling internationally with your furry companion is not quite as easy as jumping on and off the plane and requires careful planning to ensure a stress-free vacation. If you’re up for the challenge, and want your dog to be a world traveller, we suggest European countries or Canada as the safest (and most beautiful) destinations for newlyweds. An international honeymoon during the pandemic may be difficult to plan for 2021, but that doesn’t mean you can’t save this idea for a future date.
If travelling by plane with your fur-baby, make sure to check the specific requirements for the country you’re travelling to. Each country and continent has different regulations for pets to enter, so it is a necessity to plan ahead.
The first step should be checking with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) website. For example, when travelling to Europe, your dog will need to be microchipped, up-to-date on their Rabies vaccine, have a USDA accredited Veterinarian certificate, and an APHIS endorsed EU health certificate. Ireland and Canada have different requirements. We can’t emphasize it enough, do your research and plan well in advance.
If you’ve been to Europe before, or know someone that has, we’re sure you can agree that it is paw-droppingly beautiful. This is just one of the many reasons that it is consistently a top honeymoon destination every year. It’s got beauty, charm, allure, romance, one-of-a-kind architecture, etc. The list is endless.
Here are a few examples we’ve picked of the most romantic and honeymoon worthy countries you should consider:
