Wedding Dog Love Stories:Jessica, Kevin & Kylo
Some love stories are real life fairy tails. We can say that about Jessica’s and Kevin’s. Their wedding was one for the ages. Their day started off with rain but ended with the sun shining through the beautiful palms on the Deercreek Golf Club.
A love for the ages
Kevin and Jessica’s love story began 12 years ago. They actually met in highschool. Jessica was a freshman and as she put it “it all started off as us smiling at each other when we passed the halls’. Out of all places, Kevin reached out to Jessica on her social media profile and the connection was instant. According to Kevin, he knew that Jessica was the one. But Jessica kept him in the ‘friend zone’ for six years since that first ‘hello’.
Their first date
Their first date, was by no means planned. Jessica’s cravings for Taco Bell inspired her to ask Kevin to join her. They had not spoken for a while and she thought ‘why not?’. He didn’t hesitate to say ‘yes’ and that first date they spent hours talking and laughing in the car. They both agree that Taco Bell is one of their favorite outings and they love to include their dog Kylo too.
It was Meant to Be….
We asked Jessica and Kevin how they knew that the other person was the one. Kevin answered ‘One day we were discussing our hypothetical futures and what we would want years down the road. Listening to what Jessica wanted for her future made me realize she was the one I wanted. We had so much in common and everything she wanted to do was something I would want do to with her’. He could not have said it better.
Kevin and Jessica both have a huge heart. This is clear when they were asked about the characteristics they love most about each other:
Jessica answered: Kevin is the most selfless and kind person I have ever met. He is always helping others and truly enjoys it. He has found a passion in working with kids with special needs and his patience inspires me everyday.
Kevin answered: My favorite characteristic about Jessica is how much she cares for people in her life. Seeing someone put their family first is one of the best characteristics you can find. That shows that everything else in life comes second to family, which is how I feel as well.
PICKING THE WEDDING VENUE
Picking a venue for your wedding is always tough. Sometimes it is love at first sight other times it takes a few visits. For Jessica and Kevin it was the first. Jessica said ‘the venue picked us’. It was the second place they had gone to visit and the wedding inspiration was not set in stone yet. Well as soon as she walked into the Deercreek Country Club, she knew. Her vision came to life. Most importantly-they allowed dogs- which was a must in their book.
Picking The other wedding vendors
We always wonder- how do couples pick out the vendors they do. With so many options it can be quite overwhelming. As Jessica pointed out; ‘planning a wedding can be overwhelming’. She added that ‘talking to different vendors and getting all this information, it all jumbles into your brain. But when you talk to someone who you can connect with, and that can ease your concerns and put your words into your vision- that’s when I knew who I needed to have at my wedding. Gina from Gina Marie Events, Monica and Jorge from Sound Events, and Steve with Michelle Lawson photography all made me feel like a bride versus a business.’
And Kylo’s Plus-One vendor?
Picking a dog sitter for their wedding that will take care of the very important family member was not as simple. Jessica said she thought of the Rover app, but ultimately did not feel comfortable. They talked to another company and didn’t feel like it was the right fit. She added ‘finally, when I talked to Monika from Furever Us, she made me feel not only extremely comfortable but excited. Kylo is a big, active pup and she had no hesitations. I knew right away, after talking to her that Furever us was the perfect match.’. Thank you Jessica for trusting us with sweet Kylo. It was such a pleasure.
Now Let’s talk about Kylo-The very impawtant dog of honor
A couple’s decision to get a pet, especially a dog is one taken with a lot of care. For Jessica and Kevin it was one they took time to make and made sure they were ready with time and patience. It was the start of the Pandemic and Kevin was working from home and Jessica had just been sent home from her externship in the hospital. Both of them have a love for dogs and animals and with more time on their hand since they would be home all semester and summer, they decided it was time and headed to the Humane Society. According to Jessica, cupid struck once again and ‘it was love at first sight’. They just knew he was meant to be.
Meeting Kylo was such a pleasure. He is a very docile and big sweetheart. But, according to the couple he had quite the character when he was younger. Kylo was shy at first. Jessica says ‘He was only 13 weeks old when they brought him home. One of the first things he did was walk up yo Jessica, put his snout on her face to check-her out-then he snatched her mask and ran off as quick as his little legs would take him. We could not help, but laugh. He had the best personality, which has only grown bigger to this day. 64 pounds bigger in fact’.

Kylo is very special to both Kevin and Jessica. They could not imagine a day without Kylo. Jessica’s mom had her doubts-‘how will he get to the wedding?’ ‘who will watch him? ‘Won’t you be worried about him the whole time?’ ‘What if he needs to walk or go to the bathroom’. Definitely all great questions and concerns. Her mom thought of everything. We cannot agree more- dogs have their needs and you don’t want any of your guests to miss out on all the fun stuff or even get some doggie paw prints on them. Luckily for us and Kylo, Jessica saw one of our wedding dog videos on instagram at the same venue and it brought her to tears and she knew Kylo would have to be there too!! Future Plans
Jessica, Kevin and Kylo have so many great adventures ahead of them. Jessica told us ‘there are very few places that they don’t take Kylo with them. ‘ He even went along to their trip to Georgia when they got engaged. Kevin and Jessica want to make this a tradition and go on a yearly road trip up north with Kylo, where they all love the fresh air and a bit cooler weather.
