Homestead has been gaining popularity when it comes to South Florida’s wedding industry. It is home to some of the most stunning venues in tropical Florida, most of which are outside. This makes Homestead a key wedding destination for many in state trendy couples, that want a once of a lifetime party without having to robe a bank.
Homestead has changed so much over the past years and many can agree that Homestead used to look very different. Interestingly enough, Homestead is the second oldest county in Miami Dade. It used to be called ‘homestead country’. The government urged people to homestead rather than become farmers. The difference is that on a homestead, you use the land to become self-sufficient, less to sell products. Farmers, on the other hand, work on the land to make money and sell goods.
In 1989 the only way in and out of the area was through a dirt road called the ‘Homesteaders Trail’. This all changed, when in 1904 Henry Flager extended the railroad from Miami to Key West. This allowed the farmers in the area to transport all their fruits and vegetables to Miami and further north, even out of state. Many of those who built the railroad decided to stay in the area and founded the City of Homestead in 1913.
The Homestead that we know today is still a farming community with beautiful wedding venues. It caters to couples that like the outdoors and open-air venues. It has become especially popular during this pandemic as outdoor venues are not only preferred but also safer. These venues are more spacious than many in the city and allow for guests to be entertained at a safe distance.
When selecting a wedding venue and the place in which you will gather to spend time with family and friends, there are probably many different factors that help you make a decision. Price, history, ease of access, vendor prices in that area, curfew time, accommodations, photo opportunity, décor, details and let’s not forget the most important of them all; PET-FRIENDLY. When it comes to Homestead, it checks off many of these boxes.
Price-wise Homestead is cheaper than many of the high-end venues in the city, including 5-star hotels. This makes it very attractive to many couples that are looking for something trendy but not unaffordable. The photo opportunities are endless. Each venue has special key features that offer couples great places for photos. Curfew wise, this depends on each venue. As many in the vicinity of homes, some may be stricter than others.
Homestead has grown when it comes to hotels and Airbnb housing, that couples can rent and bring their whole entourage with them. That being said, there are not many hotels that can accommodate very large parties. Many prefer, just traveling on location and staying elsewhere.
For some of the more romantic couples, some venues will have small ‘love cabins’ that couples can stay in right after their wedding.
Lastly, and most importantly, most if not all of these venues are dog-friendly and pet-friendly. This, of course, is one of the most attractive features for our pet parents that want to have their Best Dog by their side on the big day. Our services include pet transport so we can pick up your furbaby from anywhere in South Florida and bring them back or take them to our own home.
We admit that Homestead wedding venues have a special place in our hearts as so far we have not many venue owners that don’t love the four-legged companions. Some even have their own four-legged mascots on the premises.
